Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.
Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance. In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers.
Why it's done: Acupuncture is used mainly to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and conditions, including: Chemotherapy-induced and postoperative nausea and vomiting, Dental pain, Headaches, including tension headaches and migraines, Labor pain, Low back pain, Neck pain, Osteoarthritis, Menstrual cramps, Respiratory disorders, such as allergic rhinitis

Reiki (Universal life force energy) is a subtle energy that surrounds and flows within all living things. Reiki flows through the attuned Reiki practitioner to the client to where it is needed most. Reiki can support the body in healing itself and can help release negative thoughts, feelings and memories. The benefits of Reiki can range from feelings of well being to helping the client be calm and relaxed. It can promote qualities of love, caring, compassion, peace and serenity. Because Reiki is guided by the Higher Power, it cannot do harm and always works for the positive benefit of the client. Ultimately, all healing is self-healing and each individual will use this energy as they choose with their own free will. Reiki connects us to a part of the Universe where all is guided by love, peace, and the wisdom of a Higher Power. Reiki is not a religion and does not interfere with religious beliefs. The practitioner always asks permission to use it and honors the client's wishes.
Reiki Principles: Just for today, I will be grateful for all the blessings in my life. I will not worry. I will not be angry. I will do my work honestly. I will be kind to every living thing.
